Dear Parents and Guardians,

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.  Psalm 73:26.

As we prepare to celebrate Christmas, it is far too easy to be sidetracked by the lights, the glitz and the other distractions that could lead us away from the true meaning of Christmas. I feel for my staff every year at this time. Everyone, students and staff, look forward to having a holiday at Christmas, but my staff are always coming off of a very busy time of year with report cards concluded for term 1 and with special Christmas activities, such as our most recent elementary Christmas musical and concert (that was incredible!). I so admire my staff who are able to prioritize needs while they maintain a great ethic of care with our students. I’m so proud of our staff who help make Jesus a central point in our students’ lives.

This Christmas will be different for my family as this past week has had some heartache. I share with you, with a heavy heart, that my father passed away suddenly and peacefully in his home on Monday, December 16. He lived a full life of 85 years, was a school principal for much of his 35 year career and also enjoyed more than 30 years of retirement. (He started teaching just 1 year out of High school.) I’m relieved that he is now with my mom, who passed away six years ago. He missed her for so long. The sadness that I feel of missing him is far outweighed by the peace that is beginning to come over me as I know that he is no longer burdened by the worldly aches and pains of life. This Christmas as we are all reminded of the “gifts” that we are given, I pray that we truly appreciate the gift of time with our loved ones. There is no rewind button in life. I urge you to let go of grudges, to practice forgiveness, and to let Jesus shine through not only your words, but also your actions. May you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year as we look with expectancy to the future for what God has in store for us.  Adam Reid – Principal
