Dear Parents and Guardians,

As the weather is changing, our uniforms also change from the Spring to Winter uniforms.  Formal shorts should not be worn until Spring. This is a good time to review expectations for LGCA uniforms, including proper shoes and socks, and make sure your child has all the necessary items. Remember, shoes should be ALL black on formal uniform days. It is an expectation that all families will equip their child with the proper uniform whether that is their formal uniform or their PE uniform. Please ensure that your child's uniform looks neat and tidy and is clean. It is important to keep that uniform in good condition and if a piece of the uniform is becoming tattered and worn out, that it be replaced. Please remember we do have a used uniform closet at school and you can also purchase new uniform items throughout the year at Cambridge & Company.

On September 24th an email was sent to the High School parents and students regarding the expectations for the HS school uniform. As a reminder, after Thanksgiving, students in Grades 10–12 are also required to wear their blazers to school every day. It's important that the blazer remains the defining part of the school uniform, particularly for our senior students in Grade 10-12. Blazers are optional for students in Grade 8 & 9.  Grade 12 students may wear their grad crew neck in place of the sweater together with their blazer.  Students may choose between the golf shirt with sweater/cardigan (Grade 8- 9 and Grade 10-12 with blazer), or the formal shirt with or without a tie. On designated formal days, such as assemblies, photo days, field trips etc., all students will be expected to wear the full formal uniform.

Another area parents can help us with is when it comes to cosmetics and hair choices. Our expectation is that either one of the aforementioned never becomes a distraction to others or to learning. Hair colour should be natural and any kind of makeup worn by young ladies should be age-appropriate and minimal. Just a quick reminder to please limit the use of bright nail polish and long false nails for students. While we love seeing everyone’s unique style, these can sometimes be distracting in the classroom and can also pose challenges during certain activities. In regards to personal hygiene, students should come to school clean and smelling fresh, with hair neatly in place. Thank you for your assistance in helping us uphold all of these uniform and personal hygiene expectations with your child. Thank you for helping us help your child realize the capacity that God has blessed them with.

Chapel

Parents are invited to attend our weekly chapel services on Fridays!

The Elementary Chapel takes place from 8:50–9:30 am, followed by the High School Chapel from 9:45–10:35 am.  Parents are welcome at both services, but we especially encourage you to join us for the High School Chapel this Friday. Our annual Missions Trip for the Grade 11 students is approaching, and in recent years our students have traveled to Guatemala, partnering with Matt and Kerry Blocklock, who lead a community-centered ministry in a rural part of the country. The Blocklocks are currently in the Vancouver area and will be speaking at our chapel tomorrow morning from 9:45 to 10:35 am.  We invite all parents to come meet them, hear how God called them into their ministry, and learn more about the work our students will be part of on the upcoming trip.

We hope to see you there!

Purdy’s Christmas Fundraiser

This year we will once again be participating in the Purdy’s Christmas Fundraiser.   This is an excellent way to support the school as well as complete your Christmas shopping.  This program gives 25% of the sales back to LGCA.  Further information will be sent home soon.

Photo Retake Day – Thursday, October 30th

If your child missed the photo day or would like a retake, Edge Imaging will be at the school on Thursday, October 30th.  All students wanting a retake should be in their form #1 uniform – sweaters, ties, oxford shirts, no polo shirts.

Kindergarten 2026-2027

As we plan ahead for the 2026-2027 school year, please advise the office if you have a child who will be entering Kindergarten in September 2026. Please email us at office@lgca.ca with your child’s name and date of birth.   We have already received a lot of requests for Kindergarten and want to make sure that our current families get first preference, so please ensure you register your child’s name with us to secure your spot.

The LGCA Book Fair is Almost Here!

We’re SO excited for this wonderful fundraising opportunity—and even more excited to get amazing Christian books into the hands of our students and families! It’s the perfect time to stock up on great reads or even find meaningful Christmas gifts for friends and loved ones.

Mark your calendars! Our Book Fair happens October 28 & 29, in partnership with Living Books, a Christian book distributor offering a wide range of quality titles.

In-Person Shopping:
All elementary students (K-7) can shop during their library classes (bring money on their library day). Families are welcome to shop after school on both days (3-4PM)—it’s a fun way to browse books and bookish goodies together!

Online Shopping:
Prefer to shop from home? Use our school’s promo code (see attached poster for QR and code) to order online and still support our fundraiser.

Why It Matters:
Every purchase helps us grow our school library with new Christian titles.

Volunteers Needed!
We’d love help with student shopping, set-up, and clean-up. Please contact Mrs. Cahill (ccahill@lgca.ca) if you can lend a hand.
